Dental Implants in South Wales

Our implant patients often tell us their treatment has been life-changing – and with good reason! Available at our Dinas Powys practice in South Wales, dental implants offer a long term replacement for missing teeth that combines perfect function with the exact look you want. Made from biocompatible titanium, a dental implant mimics the function of a tooth root, providing strong foundation onto which a permanent restoration can be fitted. Dental implants can replace anything from an individual tooth to a full arch, with relatively minimal surgery and downtime required.

Why choose dental implants?

Nothing looks or feels as close to a natural tooth. Dental implants restore normal function and provide an enhanced aesthetic solution too.
Dental implants are a lifelong solution. Take care of your implants and they may never require replacing.
You can smile with confidence. Dental implants allow you to eat, talk and laugh without any inhibition.
You will look younger for longer. Tooth loss causes jaw shrinkage, which in turn leads to facial sagging. Because implants replace both the tooth root and the missing tooth, they give your jaw the essential support it needs to keep you looking youthful.
You can use them in tandem with dentures. Implant-retained dentures eliminate the problem of denture slippage, allowing you to eat and talk without fear of embarrassment.

  • What exactly is an implant?

An implant is an artificial tooth root. It's made up of a small titanium screw that's placed in the upper or lower jawbone where your natural teeth are missing. The implant 'integrates' with the surrounding bone to give a firm foundation for replacing individual or several teeth, or to anchor dentures.

  • How much do dental implants cost?

For a single dental implant and crown, prices start from £1950. The cost of the treatment is dependent on your individual case. We do offer 0% interest finance options on dental implant treatment.

  • Can anyone have implants?

Generally speaking, yes. We don't recommend it for children, whose jaws are still growing, but for everyone else, if your mouth is healthy then it is likely that implants will be suitable for you. If your mouth is not healthy, we will consult with you about a treatment plan to carry out the necessary dental work to get your oral health back to optimum condition.

  • Are implants safe?

Yes, dental implants are a well-established treatment, supported by over 30 years of clinical evidence and a 95% success rate or higher. Implants actually improve the health of your jaw by increasing blood flow to an area that would otherwise atrophy.

  • How are implants fitted?

Implant surgery is extremely high-tech and uses state-of-the-art equipment. A 3D scanner is used to get digital image of your jaw onto which the implants can be virtually placed and your new smile previewed. Drilling guides are created using computer guided technology, and laser surgery means that there is very little trauma to the implant site, and recovery is fast.

  • Does it hurt to get implants?

No – implant placement is usually carried out under local anaesthesia or IV sedation. The vast majority of patients report little or no discomfort during surgery. After surgery your dentist will provide you with a comprehensive aftercare plan to manage any swelling or discomfort; recovery time is usually swift and most patients feel back to normal within two weeks.

  • How quickly can I go back to work after implants?

Most patients can return to work within one or two days of surgery.

  • The dental implant process?

    Stage 1
The process for Dental Implant provision at Castle Court Dental Care involves an initial comprehensive Dental Implant assessment, including X-Rays, impressions and photographs as required. Our skilled implant dentists will discuss the treatment proposals with you. From the impressions taken of your teeth, the laboratory will create mock ups of the desired treatment outcome, a very important diagnostic stage in ensuring a successful final outcome.

    Stage 2
Once you are happy with the proposed treatment, the next stage is placement of the dental implant (if same day teeth are planned, a crown or bridge will be connected to the implants on the same day).

    Stage 3
Following a period of healing, the implant is uncovered and an impression is taken. The laboratory construct the final teeth and they are fitted.

These stages are just a guideline, your case will be individually planned and the stages involved will be fully explained.
